Practiced in 51 countries, Shooting is part of the Paralympic Games since Toronto, in 1976. This sport is a test of precision and control, in which competitors use pistols or rifles to shoot a series of shots in a target at distances of 10, 25, and 50 meters.
The Paralympic Games event is open to athletes with different physical disabilities who compete in two competition categories: wheelchair and standing.
Like other Paralympic sports, Shooting also uses a functional classification that allows athletes with different functional abilities to dispute competitions among mixed teams.
