The first Rowing competition in Paralympic Games took place in Beijing, in 2008. It was presented for the first time in the Paralympic Programme in 2005. The equipment used in these competitions has undergone adaptations so that the athlete can practice the sport.
The event is divided into four classes of boat: LTA4+ and TA2x in boats with men and women participants, AW1x for women only, and AM1x for men only.
