Equestrian is often used for rehabilitation and recreation and was included as a Paralympic event in the Atlanta Games, in 1996.
It is a sport open to athletes with physical disabilities or visual impairment. The competitions are mixed and organized into four classes, according to the athlete’s functional classification.
In the Paralympic Games, the equestrian event is only Dressage, and there are no Jumping events, as in the Olympic discipline.
