In Fencing competitions, two athletes stand opposite each other and duel until one of them racks up enough points to win. Fencing comes from ancient forms of combat, and is one of the four sports that has been present in every modern Olympic Games.
Duels are held in a 14-metre by 1.5-metre area. Three types of weapons are used: foil, épée and sabre. Using sensors and special clothing, the fencers are connected to an electronic point-counting system that indicates if a touch was made or not.
