A very popular sport in Asia and Europe, Badminton is played with rackets and a shuttlecock, in courts divided by a net. It is the fastest sport involving rackets in the world. During a match, a player may run six kilometres and the shuttlecock can reach speed of up to 260 kilometres per hour.
The competition ends in three games. The athlete who wins two games is the champion. An initial coin toss win selects who will receive or serve. Matches are played in up to three games of 21 points.
