HOCKEY

Also known as field hockey, hockey is a stick and ball game dating from 2000 B.C. Persia. The men’s event appeared in the Olympic Games for the first time in 1908, and definitively entered the program in 1920. In 1980, women’s hockey was also included as an Olympic sport. Until the 1970´s games, were played on natural grass pitches. They were then switched to artificial pitches.
